A few words about cork

Cork - bark of cork oak

Cork is in fact the bark of the cork oak, which when properly prepared becomes flexible and extremely light. Cork oak, on the other hand, is mainly found in Portugal, with slightly smaller numbers in Spain, France, Italy and less frequently in some North African countries. It has undoubtedly a number of advantages, which contributes to its universal character. The most valuable are its thermal insulation properties without the need for additional treatments. This feature is due to the structure of the bark of the cork oak. It consists of dead and lignified cells. Their arrangement, next to each other, creates a barrier for liquids and gases.

Thanks to this, the cork is distinguished by a low thermal conductivity coefficient, it is also not damp. Cork cells also do not conduct vibrations, hence their widespread use in soundproofed rooms. It is resistant to fungi, does not rot, does not stick to dust, so it can also be mounted on the walls without fear of causing any allergic reactions. Another advantage of using cork is its natural appearance and the fact that it is obtained without harming the environment.
